The MVTA hosted its sixth annual Bus Roadeo at Dakota County Technical College on Saturday, June 20. Bus drivers from the MVTA's two garages competed for prizes, with the two winning drivers continuing on to the State Roadeo in Albert Lea, MN on July 25.
Drivers from both the Burnsville and Eagan Bus Garages operated by Schmitty & Sons Transit Services (SST) took written as well as driving tests covering various turns, stops, safety issues, smoothness and other driving-related issues. There were 16 drivers participating in the competition. Winners of the MVTA 2009 Roadeo are:

Independence Weekend Schedule Posted 6/9/2009 1:00 AM The Minnesota Valley Transit Authority (MVTA) will operate alternate schedules during the Independence Day weekend. The MVTA will operate a “reduced service” schedule on Thursday, July 2 (some express buses will be reduced), will operate a Saturday Schedule on Friday, July 3; and will operate a Sunday Schedule on Saturday, July 4 & Sunday, July 5.
There will be changes to the following routes:
MVTA Operates Reduced Service on Fridays Beginning June 12 6/5/2009 3:21 PM The MVTA will operate a modified service schedule on the most Fridays beginning June 12 through Labor Day. Additionally, there will be several Thursdays with reduced service. The modified service schedule will operate on the following dates: 6/12, 6/19, 6/26, 7/10, 7/17, 7/24, 7/31, 8/7, 8/14, 8/21, 8/28 and 9/4 ( All Fridays); 7/2 (Thursday before Independence Day); 9/3 (Thursday before Labor Day): Trips on these days will be reduced on Routes 460, 470 and 477 as detailed below.

Groundbreaking for the new Cedar Grove Transit Station will be the next visible sign of the future bus rapid transit system along Cedar Avenue. Monday, June 8, the Minnesota Valley Transit Authority, along with the City of Eagan, Dakota County, local legislators, the Metropolitan Council, and MnDOT celebrated the construction kick-off for the Cedar Grove Transit Station to be located at Nicols Road and Cedar Grove Parkway.
All MVTA Buses are now Equipped with Front Bike Racks 6/24/2008 9:17 AM The MVTA has completed the installation of Front loading bike racks on all MVTA buses. These are mounted on the front of all buses and hold 2 bikes each. Check out how to use the bikes at bikes.
Please Use Cell Phone Courtesy on MVTA Buses 1/1/2008 1:00 AM The Minnesota Valley Transit Authority (MVTA) wants to make the ride as pleasant and safe as possible for all our riders. Recently, there has been concern among riders regarding loud ringing from multiple cell phones, prolonged conversations irritating to others, and the potential for cell phones to create a safety hazard if they interfere with the driver's ability to concentrate or operate the bus.
