The opening of the new and improved Cedar Grove Transit Station was celebrated Thursday afternoon by transportation representatives and the public.

A new skyway-connected customer platform across Highway 77 was added to the station, which is located at 4035 Nicols Road in Eagan.

This new skyway is designed to improve travel times for customers of the METRO Red Line on the Highway 77/Cedar Avenue corridor. Transit customers will be able to use the skyway to get to the center platform and buses that serve the station will stay on the highway.

Representatives from MVTA, Eagan, Dakota County, Rosemount, the Metropolitan Council and Hennepin County provided remarks prior to a customer appreciation event.

“A vital Cedar Grove station helps improve and streamline service along the

Cedar Avenue Corridor,” said William Droste, Minnesota Valley Transit Authority Board vice chair. “As always, we are appreciative of our riders – both those who

are transit-dependent and riders who choose the bus by choice. Enhancements such as this are ultimately for the benefit of those who rely on and choose public transportation.”

A wide range of destinations are served by MTVA bus routes that connect to Cedar Grove:

  • Routes 437 & 445 provide access to Eagan Promenade, Blue Cross Blue Shield and Thomson Reuters in Eagan.
  • Route 444 serves Burnsville Center.
  • Routes 440 & 475 go to the Minnesota Zoo.
  • Route 491 links to Mystic Lake Casino.
  • Route 440 connects with the VA Medical Center.
