MnDOT encourages alternate modes of travel during construction
The most significant I-35W construction delays are expected to begin in June and the Minnesota Department of Transportation is encouraging the public to explore using transit and alternative modes of travel during the construction period.
In June, more lanes, ramps and access to and from downtown Minneapolis will close as part of project. MnDOT is advising the public to begin planning for alternative ways to get downtown.
Downtown routes offered by Minnesota Valley Transit Authority include (click on route number for detail):
Savage – 464
Shakopee – 493
Prior Lake – 490
Rosemount – 478
MVTA planners are currently working on schedule adjustments that will take effect in May. Route adjustments will be updated at www.mvta.com during the 35W construction period.

Main I-35 construction project impacts begin this summer
The I-35W Downtown to Crosstown construction project will have major impacts on all road traffic beginning in 2018. Many routes will be detoured off 35W onto neighborhood streets and will experience significant construction delays.
MVTA plans to add additional express buses during the construction period on certain express routes and is in the process of finalizing route details to best serve customers during the project.
Taking the bus will cut down on stress, provide time for you to be productive while commuting and get more vehicles off the road during construction.
