April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month

Public safety officials are highlighting the dangers of distracted driving during April, which has been designated Distracted Driving Awareness Month.

Distracted driving causes one out of every four crashes statewide, contributing to hundreds of injuries and fatalities each year, according to law enforcement authorities.

Police across Minnesota are doing extra enforcement of the state’s distracted driving laws this month.

At Minnesota Valley Transit Authority, bus operators must have all cell phones and personal electronic devices powered off when driving the bus.

Any violation of this procedure is considered a serious safety violation and will result in disciplinary action.
