MVTA announces September service changesAug 17th, 2021 12:31 pm
Two express routes return, coverage is expanded, and additional times are added to a variety of routes
Significant changes are in store for MVTA’s upcoming service change taking effect September 18. That change will see the return of two express routes previously suspended during the pandemic, additional coverage for some existing express routes, and adjusted and enhanced routing and shelter amenities for a variety of key local routes.
Route 489 will return as an Eagan to St. Paul reverse commute with three trips in the morning and three in the evening to provide convenient connections from St. Paul to Eagan. Also returning is the Rosemount to Minneapolis Route 478. That route will feature three morning and three evening trips providing connections from Minneapolis to Rosemount.
University of Minnesota travelers on Route 465 will have access to 10 additional northbound trips and 16 southbound trips to provide some highly requested additional connections to the University of Minnesota.
The Savage/Burnsville to Mall of America Route 444 will feature new northbound routing to better serve the Burnsville Center area. Buses will turn east on 140th St. with brand new stops on 140th and McAndrews Road. Southbound routing does not change; however, a new stop will be added on Burnhaven Drive near 140th St.
Route 445 has been adjusted to cater to Eagan’s Central Commons area with more access to businesses and homes with three new stops along Quarry Road in both directions. Westbound routing will now serve a new shelter on the corner of Yankee Doodle and Lexington.
Route 446 traveling from Eagan to the 46th St. Station in Minneapolis will see stops at three new shelters on Diffley Road. New routing will provide more direct access to that area. Route 446 will now begin and end at Diffley Road and Braddock Trail.
MVTA Connect service hours also are being extended to 9 p.m. Service hours for MVTA Connect will be 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week starting Sept. 18.
