MVTA offering free rides to COVID vaccine appointments in south metro

Need a lift to get your COVID-19 vaccine? Starting Tuesday, March 16, MVTA is offering free rides to vaccine appointments in the south metro. The free rides will be on all local bus routes and MVTA Connect, which serves the cities of Apple Valley, Burnsville, Rosemount and Savage.

“Our goal is helping to ensure that everyone who wants a vaccine can get a ride if needed,” said MVTA Chief Executive Officer Luther Wynder. “Vaccinating the public against COVID-19 is critical to getting people back to normal routines.”

MVTA riders can access free rides to and from their appointments and get more information by contacting MVTA Customer Service by email at mvta@mvta.com or by calling 952-882-7500.

Riders can plan their trips on fixed route buses by using the MVTA trip planner at mvta.com.

MVTA Connect is an app-based, curb-to-curb service that riders can use on their smart phones. You can download the free Ride MVTA app onto your phone and plan your trip.

Riders using MVTA Connect for their tickets will be provided a free coupon code that can be used on the Ride MVTA app when booking their trips. Riders using fixed route buses will be mailed free ride tickets for their appointments.

Face masks are required by federal mandate on public transit vehicles and at transit facilities, including while outdoors waiting for a bus. Masks should fit securely over the face and must be worn over the mouth and nose at all times.
