MVTA offers convenient trips from south metro
The Minnesota State Fair is set for Aug. 22 through Sept. 2 and Minnesota Valley Transit Authority will be offering direct bus service to and from Burnsville and Eagan every day of the fair and service from Shakopee on weekends and Labor Day.
Payment for those who choose to pay cash while boarding is $6. (Exact change is required. Drivers don’t make change.)

MVTA customers can also purchase $5 State Fair tickets via the New Ride MVTA app, which is available at the app store here.
Express Sites to fair
You can get to the State Fair any day of the fair from Burnsville Transit Station and Eagan Transit Station. This year, MVTA will have several more buses dedicated to fair service during peak travel times. The Eagan station historically has plenty of space in the ramp to accommodate State Fair traffic. Burnsville has overflow parking available nearby at Heart of the City and the Traveler’s Trail parking areas.
Burnsville: Burnsville Transit Station, Hwy. 13 & Nicollet Ave. Hourly service weekdays 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.; 30-minute service on weekends and Labor Day begins at 7 a.m. Return service from the fair is from noon to midnight for all sites. State Fair buses will board at Bay A at Burnsville Transit Station.
Eagan: Eagan Transit Station, Yankee Doodle Rd. & Pilot Knob Rd. at I-35E. Hourly service on weekdays 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; 30-minute service from 8 a.m. on weekends and Labor Day. Return service from the fair is from noon to midnight for all sites.
Weekends and Labor Day only
Shakopee: Shakopee will provide service to the State Fair on weekends and Labor Day only. The weekend service from Marschall Road Transit Station, 1615 Weston Ct., will be hourly from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Return service from the fair is from noon to midnight for all sites.
Taking the bus to the Minnesota State Fair is a fast, friendly and convenient way to attend Minnesota’s signature end-of-summer event.
Remember ages 4 and under ride free!
Please Note: Go-To Cards, SuperSaver Cards, College Passes and MetroPasses are not accepted for the State Fair Express service. Bikes are permitted to be transported on the front of the bus. Only collapsible wagons are allowed on buses for transport.
