Route 495 trip extensions to Mystic Lake Casino begin Feb. 17

A partnership between the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community and Minnesota Valley Transit Authority will result in more extended service to Mystic Lake Casino. A partnership between the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community and Minnesota Valley Transit Authority will result in more extended service to Mystic Lake Casino.

MVTA and the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community are partnering to provide more transportation options to people in the Prior Lake Area beginning Feb. 17.

The partnership agreement adds five direct stops to and from the tribe’s Mystic Lake Casino Hotel along MVTA’s current Route 495, which runs daily between the Mall of America, Burnsville and Shakopee.

“Many of our employees rely on public transportation every day,” said SMSC Gaming Enterprise CEO and President Angela Heikes. “This partnership with the Minnesota Valley Transit Authority is a great opportunity to help make our team members’ commutes easier and more efficient during peak times.”

The new direct stops, which will be in the morning and afternoon, begin with MVTA’s Feb. 17 service changes. The stops supplement those currently run by the Mystic Lake Shuttle Bus, which runs frequently between the Marschall Road Transit Station in Shakopee to Mystic Lake. The total cost of the expanded service is covered by a $75,000 contribution from the SMSC.

“These expanded routes are a win-win for both the SMSC and MVTA,” said Minnesota Valley Transit Authority Executive Director Luther Wynder. “Together, we’ll be able to get more travelers where they want to go in an affordable, convenient way.”
