MVTA September 5 services changes
Some local trips reduced, Route 479 suspended, additional southbound U of M trips
Minnesota Valley Transit Authority (MVTA) will be suspending some local route trips and weekend service, suspending Route 479, rerouting Route 497 and Route 499, as well as adding additional trips to routes serving the University of Minnesota as part of its September 5 service changes.
MVTA is in the process of redirecting resources to MVTA Connect to provide local trip options in the south metro. As a result, lower ridership routes will see reductions.
Weekday trip reductions
Routes 420, 436, 440, 442, 445, 446, 447, 497, and 499 will have weekday trip reductions. To see individual schedules effective September 5, click on the route numbers below:
420 (Apple Valley <-> Rosemount)
The following eastbound trips are being suspended: 6:44 a.m., 8:44 a.m., 10:44 a.m., 12:44 p.m., 2:44 p.m., and 7:44 p.m. The following westbound trips are being suspended: 9:18 a.m., 11:18 a.m., 1:18 p.m., 3:18 p.m., and 6:18 p.m.
436 (46th Street Station <-> Eagan)
The following southbound trips are being suspended: 10:25 a.m., 12:25 p.m., 1:25 p.m., 2:25 p.m., 3:25 p.m., 4:25 p.m., 5:25 p.m., 6:25 p.m., and 7:25 p.m. The following northbound trips are being suspended: 7:53 a.m., 8:53 a.m., 9:53 a.m., 10:53 a.m., 11:53 a.m., 12:53 p.m., 1:53 p.m., 3:10 p.m., 4:53 p.m., 5:53 p.m., and 7:53 p.m.
The route will no longer have bidirectional service all day.
440 (Apple Valley <-> MnZoo <-> Cedar Grove Transit <-> VA Medical Center)
The following northbound trips are being suspended: 7:02 a.m., 9:32 a.m., 4:32 p.m., 6:34 p.m. The following southbound trips are being suspended: 2:48 p.m., and 7:48 p.m.
440 routing change: The last portion of the 440 southbound route is being rerouted to come into Apple Valley Transit Station via 155th Street. This resulted in the removal of the stop at Office Max NE corner. To view a map of the new routing, click here.
442 (Burnsville Center <-> Apple Valley Transit <-> Cedar Grove Transit <-> MOA
The following northbound trips are being suspended: 5:13 a.m., and 10:03 p.m. The following southbound trips are being suspended: 7:09 a.m., 9:09 a.m., 11:06 a.m., and 11:14 p.m.
445 (Cedar Grove Transit <-> Eagan Transit Station)
The following westbound trips are being suspended: 6:28 a.m., and 7:51 a.m. The following eastbound trips are being suspended: 7:50 a.m., 3:53 p.m., and 5:53 p.m.
446 (Eagan Transit <-> 46th Street Station)
The following northbound trips are being suspended: 5:30 p.m., and 7:03 p.m. The following southbound trip is being suspended: 5:10 p.m.
447 (Apple Valley <-> Burnsville Center <-> Savage <-> Prior Lake <-> Mystic Lake
Frequency for Route 447 has been reduced to every other hour on both weekdays and weekends.
497 (Shakopee)
Timings on 497 have been changed to improve connections at Marschall Road Transit Station. The following eastbound trips have been suspended: 6:02 a.m., 8:02 a.m., 11:02 a.m., 7:05 p.m., and 9:05 p.m. The following westbound trips have been suspended: 5:37 a.m., 7:37 a.m., 9:37 a.m., 6:40 p.m., and 8:40 p.m.
497 routing change: The route will avoid railroads while still serving downtown Shakopee. The current detour is on 4th Ave., but the new routing will not use 4th Ave. With the implementation of the new routing, there will no longer be a need for detour. To view a map of the new routing, click here.
499 (Shakopee)
Route 499 has been reduced to every other hour on weekdays.
499 routing change: Due to low ridership at Southbridge Crossings Park and Ride, the stop at Southbridge Crossings will be removed. The stop at Walmart will be the starting and ending location of all 499 trips. The new routing will result in some trip time adjustments.
Weekend Route Suspensions
420 (Apple Valley <-> Rosemount)
Weekend service has been suspended. Alternative is MVTA Connect.
440 (Apple Valley <-> MnZoo <-> Cedar Grove Transit <-> VA Medical Center)
Weekend service has been suspended. Alternative is MVTA Connect.
Other Route Changes
447 (Apple Valley <-> Burnsville Center <-> Savage <-> Prior Lake <-> Mystic Lake
Frequency for Route 447 has been reduced to every other hour on both weekdays and weekends.
475 (Apple Valley Transit <-> Minneapolis <-> University of Minnesota)
Three additional southbound trips are being added at 7:05 p.m., 8:05 p.m., and 9:05 p.m.
479 (157th Street Station <-> Minneapolis)
Route 479 is being suspended due to low ridership. Alternative will be Route 477 from Apple Valley Transit Station and MVTA Connect.
490 (Prior Lake <-> Southbridge Crossings <-> Minneapolis <-> University of Minnesota)
Three additional southbound trips are being added at 7:35 p.m., 8:35 p.m., and 9:35 p.m.
490 routing change: The downtown routing will use 3rd/4th Street to and from U of M instead of Washington Avenue to avoid congestion issues. To view a map of the new route, click here. New stops on the southbound route will be at:
