Route 420

Re-Route to Serve DCTC

MVTA is proposing a major routing change to Route this fall to provide increased connections to destinations in both Apple Valley and Rosemount. The proposed routing primarily uses 157th Street in Apple Valley, providing added service to housing and commercial areas, including the Target located on 157th St and Pilot Knob Rd. Between Pilot Knob Rd and Shannon Pkwy, the current 420 routing is used to continue fixed-route access for residents currently along the route. In Rosemount, the proposed routing goes south of County Road 42 to provide fixed route access to commercial destinations including Cub and Fairview Pharmacy. The proposed routing then uses Hwy 3 in Downtown Rosemount to arrive at Rosemount Transit Station before ending at Dakota County Technical College.

Service will continue to be hourly between 6 AM and 9 PM on weekdays. No weekend service is included in the proposal.

Route 436

Airport and Eagan Transit Station Additions

MVTA is proposing a re-route of route 436 to add MSP Terminal 1 and Eagan Transit Station to the route. Existing trip times will be adjusted, and hourly service will be provided all day between Eagan Transit Station and 46th Street Station. Weekend service will also be introduced to route 436 and will be hourly between 8 AM and 8 PM. Existing 436 stops will maintain service.

Route 460

Trips Extended to Savage Park & Ride

MVTA is proposing extending a select number of 460 trips to Savage Park & Ride. These additions would provide three daily trips in each direction to and from Savage Park & Ride with minimal impacts to current 460 riders. Proposed trip times are below:

– NB: 6:43 AM, 7:14 AM, 7:55 AM
– SB: 3:24 PM, 4:07 PM, 4:30 PM

Route 490

All Trips to End at UMN

Route 490 is planned to be adjusted this fall so all trips will begin serving the University of Minnesota. The following stops will no longer be served by route 490:

– 2 Av S at 4 St S NE Corner (#53310)
– 2 Av S at Washington Av S SE Corner (#19260)
– Gateway Ramp (#19301)

The following stops are recommended for riders to use instead:

– 4th St S at 2nd Ave (#44062)
– 4th St S at 4th Ave S (#17863)
– 3rd St S at 4th Ave S NE Corner (#41383)
– Marquette Av S at 3 St S SW Corner (#53297)

The following trip times will begin or end at the University beginning Fall 2025:

– NB: 6:37 AM, 7:38 AM
– SB: 3:11 PM, 4:10 PM. 4:26 PM. 5:20 PM

Route 420, 497, & 499

Fixed Stop Additions

Three local routes will transition from “flag” routes to “fixed” routes this summer starting with MVTA’s June 2nd service change. On routes 420, 497, and 499, bus stop signs will be installed at designated locations along the route. Upon installation, riders are directed to wait for the bus next to bus stop signs along the route. Riders will no longer be allowed to flag a bus down at any point along the route.

Fixed stops can improve rider experience by making it clear where riders can board the bus and reducing potential missed pick-ups. Fixed stops eliminate unplanned stops that can lead to more reliable scheduling and on-time performance. Additionally, they can result in better stop spacing that balances accessibility and time efficiency.

Signs will provide riders with information about the routes that use the stop, the stop ID of the stop, and a QR code to the MVTA website, which allows riders to get live updates on their trip status by entering the stop ID into the trip planner.

Route 475

Frequency Adds

MVTA is proposing adding trips to Route 475 in addition to adding trips that were reduced for Summer 2025 due to increased ridership in recent years. These trips will provide additional trip options for University of Minnesota students, faculty, and staff living in Eagan and Apple Valley.

Proposed Trip Addition Times:

– NB: 9:35 AM
– SB: 2:35 PM, 3:35 PM, 5:35 PM
