Shakopee to Minneapolis Service Restructuring
Routes 490, 493
MVTA is proposing the combination of Routes 490 and 493. Route 493 currently provides three daily trips in each direction from Marschall Road Transit Station to Downtown Minneapolis. Route 490 currently provides six daily Northbound trips and eight daily Southbound trips from Prior Lake, Eagle Creek Park and Ride, and Southbridge Crossings Park and Ride to Downtown Minneapolis and the University of Minnesota.
This change would discontinue Route 493, with service from Marschall Road Transit Station to Downtown Minneapolis being served by a pattern of Route 490, with an additional stop at Southbridge Crossings Park and Ride and a new one-seat ride option to the University of Minnesota. Trip time adjustments would occur on both existing Route 490 and 493 trips.
The proposed changes to routes 490 and 493 meet MVTA’s criteria of a major service change, requiring a Title VI analysis and outreach.

Change: Route combined with Route 493, with added trip options from Southbridge Crossings Park and ride and Marschall Road Transit Station. Reductions to Eagle Creek Park and Ride and Downtown Prior Lake Stops.
Rationale: Provide additional trip options to the most utilized Park & Ride in Shakopee, provide additional trip times and University of Minnesota service from Marschall Road Transit Station.
Alternatives:
- Service is still available from all stations with some trip time adjustments. For full access to all trips, use Southbridge Crossings Park & Ride.
Change: Route Suspended, trips moved to a new pattern of Route 490 with stops at Marschall Road Transit Station, Southbridge Crossings Park and Ride, Downtown Minneapolis, and UMN.
Rationale: Provide additional trip options to the most utilized Park & Ride in Shakopee, provide additional trip times and University of Minnesota service from Marschall Road Transit Station.
Alternatives:
- Service is still available from Marschall Road Transit Station, with some trip time adjustments
