MVTA Fall 2025 Service Changes Begin Sept. 2

MVTA will implement its Fall 2025 Service Changes starting Tuesday, September 2, with major updates designed to improve rider experience, expand access to key destinations, and enhance service reliability across the south metro.

Key updates include:

• New service to Dakota County Technical College on Route 420
• New airport service from Eagan via Route 436
• Extended express service to downtown Minneapolis from Savage via Route 460
• Restored trips to the University of Minnesota on routes 465, 475 and 490
• Transition of Shakopee routes 497 and 499 to fixed stops

MVTA has incorporated community feedback in the planning of these changes. Explore the details below:

New routing for Route 420 effective September 2.

Route 420 Re-Route: Apple Valley & Rosemount, including Dakota County Technical College

New access to:

• 157th Street housing and commercial areas (Apple Valley)
• County Road 42 & Hwy 3 (Rosemount)
• Dakota County Technical College

Weekday service:

• Hourly from 6:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.
• Stops at 145th St & Cimarron Ave. maintained by public request
• Transfer to Route 440 or use MVTA Connect to get to Western Service Center

Route 436 V Pattern trips will serve MSP Terminal 1.

Route 436: Now Serving MSP Airport & Eagan Transit Station

Route 436 now includes:

• MSP Terminal 1
• Eagan Transit Station
• Viking Lakes
• 46th Street Station

Daily service (7 days a week): Hourly from 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Service Patterns:

• V Pattern (weekday): Eagan Transit Station → Viking Lakes → MSP → 46th St
• T Pattern (weekday select): Eagan Transit Station → Thomson Reuters → Viking Lakes → 46th St
• S Pattern (weekend): Eagan Transit Station → Viking Lakes → MSP → 46th St (no Mendota Heights/Thomson Reuters stops)

Free parking will be available at designated parking spaces in the Eagan Transit Station Parking Ramp for airport trips.

MSP Airport Service Information

Route 460: Extended to serve Savage Park & Ride

Savage area residents will have new express trip options to downtown Minneapolis.

New S Pattern adds stops at Savage Park & Ride:

Trip times at Savage Park & Ride:

• Northbound: 6:43 a.m., 7:14 a.m., 7:55 a.m.
• Southbound: 3:24 p.m., 4:07 p.m., 4:30 p.m.

University of Minnesota Service Trips Added

Route 465

Fall semester trips resume:

• Northbound: 7 trips added
• Southbound: 10 trips added

Route 475

Additional trips for Apple Valley/Eagan riders:

• Northbound: 9:35 a.m.
• Southbound: 5 trips added

Route 490

All Route 490 trips will now serve the University of Minnesota.

 Stops no longer served:

• 2nd Ave S at 4th St S (#53310)
• 2nd Ave S at Washington Ave S (#19260)
• Gateway Ramp (#19301)

Use these alternative downtown stops:

• 4th St S at 2nd Ave (#44062)
• 4th St S at 4th Ave S (#17863)
• 3rd St S at 4th Ave S (#41383)
• Marquette Ave S at 3rd St S (#53297)

New UMN Trips:

• Northbound: 6:37 a.m., 7:38 a.m.
• Southbound: 3:11 p.m., 4:10 p.m., 4:26 p.m., 5:20 p.m.

Routes 497 & 499: Flag Stops Transitioning to Fixed Stops

Shakopee Route 497 and Route 499 will move from “flag” to designated fixed stops:

Riders must board at signed stop locations.

Stop signs will include:

• Route numbers
• Stop ID
• QR code linking to trip planner and live updates

Route 499: Trip and New Pattern Added 

A new trip has been added to Route 499. The trip will depart at 5:41 a.m. from Marschall Road Transit Station and use a “G” Pattern. This trip will serve major employers east of Canterbury Road, including GN Resound. 

Additional Route Updates

Route 442: Trip Time Change

A weekday afternoon trip will have a new trip start time.

• 1:09 p.m. Southbound trip moved to 1:04 p.m.

Route 445: Routing & Timing Adjustments

• New eastern end: Argenta Trail at Dodd Road (west corner)
• New westbound start: Opperman Drive at Eagan YMCA (south corner)

Weekend schedule now standardized:

• Eastbound trips start at :30 past each hour
• Westbound trips start at :02 past each hour

Orange LINK & Route 447: Routing and Timing Changes

Orange LINK timing adjusted by up to 12 minutes for better connections to the Orange Line.

Removed stops:

• Pennock Ln at Grace Lutheran Church (#30986)
• Pennock Ln at Fireside Dr (#31005)
• Pennock Ln at 153rd St (#30985)
• Whitney Dr and Pennock Ln intersections (various)

Both routes will now end at the southbound station side and pick up at the northbound station side of Apple Valley Transit Station.

Route 489: Facility Removal and Timing Changes

The Thomson Reuters facility at 610 Opperman Drive (#30812) will be removed from the route due to low ridership.

Timing changes of up to 10 minutes at some stops

Alternate options: MVTA Connect or transfer to Route 436
