Bus stop signs being introduced on five MVTA routes June 2

Routes: 436, 440, 442, 446, 489
Five local routes will transition from “flag” routes to “fixed” routes this summer starting with MVTA’s June 2nd service change. On routes 436, 440, 442, 446, and 489, bus stop signs will be installed at designated locations along the route. Upon installation, riders are directed to wait for the bus next to bus stop signs along the route. Riders will no longer be allowed to flag a bus down at any point along the route.
Fixed stops can improve rider experience by making it clear where riders can board the bus and reducing potential missed pick-ups. Fixed stops eliminate unplanned stops that can lead to more reliable scheduling and on-time performance. Additionally, they can result in better stop spacing that balances accessibility and time efficiency.
Signs will provide riders with information about the routes that use the stop, the stop ID of the stop, and a QR code to the MVTA website, which allows riders to get live updates on their trip status by entering the stop ID to the trip planner.

Summer reductions to UMN routes
The Summer 2025 service change brings seasonal reductions in service for routes 465 and 475. Trips removed for Route 465 and Route 475 will be re-introduced in service for the Fall service change. The following trips will be removed for the summer.
– 465 NB: 8:40 a.m., 9:20 a.m., 9:40 a.m., 10:40 a.m., 11:40 a.m., 12:40 p.m., 1:40 p.m.
– 465 SB: 10:35 a.m., 11:35 a.m., 12:35 p.m., 1:35 p.m., 2:35 p.m., 5:14 p.m., 5:55 p.m., 6:40 p.m., 7:35 p.m., 10:05 p.m.
– 475 SB: 4:35 p.m., 9:05 p.m.
Time changes due to construction
Route: 444
Stop times on route 444 have been adjusted to account for the detour of the route due to construction activities. These
updated times will be in effect until the Burnsville Parkway bridge construction over I-35W is completed.

Minor trip time changes
Multiple trip times will be adjusted across three routes due to operational concerns. Changes are below:
– 436 SB: 6:12 a.m. trip moved to 6:15 a.m.
– 436 SB: 8:15 a.m. trip moved to 8:18 a.m.
– 440 NB: 7:02 a.m. trip moved to 6:58 a.m.
– 480 NB: 7:20 a.m. trip moved to 7:19 a.m.
Additional changes
Stops Added: Route 447
Two stops will be added to Route 447 to provide greater access to destinations in Scott County.
– Hwy 13 at 150th St NE Corner (#30007) – Will serve 447 WB trips
– Hwy 13 at 150th St SW Corner (#30006) – Will serve 447 EB trips
Stop Locations Moved: Routes 442, 444, 447
A group of stops have changed stop locations to address operational concerns.
– Diffley Rd at Nichols Rd NW Corner will be moved to Nicols Rd at Diffley Rd NW Corner (#30923) – Impacts to routes 442 and 444
– Burnhaven Dr at Regent Ln NW Corner will be moved to Burnhaven Dr at Regent Ln SE Corner (#31526) – Impacts to routes 442, 444, and 447
– Burnhaven Dr at Executive Dr NE Corner will be moved to Burnhaven Dr at Regent Ln N Corner (New stop #30008) – Impacts to routes 442, 444, and 447
