Delays and Detours Expected Friday Afternoon in Minneapolis

MVTA riders should expect detours and possible delays on express trips Friday afternoon due to a planned protest near U.S. Bank Stadium.

MVTA express routes serving downtown Minneapolis likely will experience delays after 2 p.m. due to planned protest activity. Buses on Routes 460, 470, 472, 477, and 493 will follow normal routing but trip delays are anticipated.

UMN Detours

Beginning at noon on Friday and continuing through the remainder of the day, MVTA will detour University of Minnesota service away from 3rd Street and 4th Street to prioritize the safety of customers, bus operators, and the general public, while maintaining accessibility where possible.  

Affected routes include:

  • Northbound: Routes 465 and 475
  • Southbound: Routes 465, 475, and 490

Stops not served after noon on Friday

Southbound:

  • 3rd St / Chicago Ave N
  • 3rd St / Portland Ave NE
  • 3rd St / 4th Ave NE

Riders should use:

  • Washington Ave & Willey Hall, or
  • Marquette Ave S at 3rd St S

Northbound:

  • 4th St at 2nd Ave
  • 4th St / 4th Ave SE
  • 4th St / Chicago Ave

Riders should use:

  • 2nd Ave S at 6th St S, or
  • Washington Ave & Anderson Hall

MVTA Operations staff will actively monitor traffic conditions and protest activity and adjust service as needed throughout the afternoon. Updates will be shared through MVTA communication channels as new information becomes available.
