Huzzah! MVTA express trips to Renaissance Festival

MVTA will be providing round-trip transportation service to the Minnesota Renaissance Festival on weekends through through Oct. 1, including Festival Friday, Sept. 29.

Round-trip fare will be $5 via the NEW RideMVTA App (available on the Google Play Store or Apple Store) or $5 cash when paying on bus (drivers don't make change). Tickets can also be purchased with credit or debit cards at MVTA on-site vending machines. Vending machines will not accept cash. Children 12 and under ride free. 

POST-LABOR DAY SCHEDULE

On the weekends of Sept. 16 and Sept. 17, Sept. 23 and Sept. 24, and Sept. 29, Sept. 30, and Oct. 1, MVTA will offer Renaissance Festival Service from Burnsville Transit Station (Bay C), 100 East Highway 13, Burnsville, Eagle Creek Park and Ride, 6600 Eagle Creek Boulevard, Shakopee, and Southbridge Crossings Park and Ride, 1401 Crossings Boulevard, Shakopee.

Eagle Creek and Burnsville Transit Station Schedule

To Renaissance Festival

From 8 a.m. to 9 a.m., buses will depart Eagle Creek and Burnsville Transit Station (Bay C) every 20 minutes.

From 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., buses will depart Eagle Creek and Burnsville Transit Station (Bay C) every 15 minutes.

From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., buses will depart Eagle Creek and Burnsville Transit Station (Bay C) every 30 minutes.

From Renaissance Festival

From noon to 3 p.m., buses will return to Eagle Creek and Burnsville Transit Station every 30 minutes.

From 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., buses will return to Eagle Creek and Burnsville Transit Station every 15 minutes.

From 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., buses will return to Eagle Creek and Burnsville Transit Station every 20 minutes.

Southbridge Crossings Schedule

To Renaissance Festival

From 8 a.m. to 9 a.m., buses will depart Southbridge Crossings every 30 minutes.

From 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., buses will depart Southbridge Crossings every 20 minutes.

From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., buses will depart Southbridge Crossings every 30 minutes.

From Renaissance Festival

From noon to 3 p.m., buses will return to Southbridge Crossings every 30 minutes.

From 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., buses will return to Southbridge Crossings every every 20 minutes.

From 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., buses will return to Southbridge Crossings every 30 minutes.

How to buy Renaissance Festival bus tickets on the RideMVTA App

Go to Google Play Store or Apple App Store and search for and then download the “RideMVTA” App

  • Open the app and select “create account”
  • Type in all pertinent information and click submit
  • Follow on screen prompts to complete registration
  • Navigate to the home page of the app
  • Click the 3 dots above the word “more” in the bottom right corner
  • Click on payment methods
  • Click on “add new card” on the bottom of the screen
  • Type in your credit card information and press submit
  • Navigate back to the home page
  • Scroll down to the bottom of the page to find “upcoming events”
  • Scroll over until you see “Renaissance Festival” ticket
  • Click on “buy ticket”
  • Tap the plus sign to indicate how many tickets you wish to buy
  • Click “add to cart”
  • Verify that your preferred payment method is listed under the total dollar amount
  • Press the word buy
  • Your tickets will now be listed on the home page of the app
  • DO NOT activate the tickets until you are ready to board the bus
  • Once you do activate the ticket, you will be able to show it to the bus driver as you board the bus
  • Each ticket is round trip. You will not need to show your ticket on the return ride

Buying $5 ticket at onsite vending machines

  • There will be ticket vending machines located at Eagle Creek Park and Ride, Southbridge Crossings Park and Ride, and Burnsville Transit Station for Renaissance Festival bus tickets.
  • Purchase a ticket from the vending machine before boarding the Renaissance Festival bus.
  • Credit cards and vouchers can be used to purchase $5 Renaissance Festival tickets.
Dogs will be allowed on MVTA buses all days of the festival. The following rules will apply to dog owners:
  • Only one dog per owner will be allowed on the bus
  • All dogs must be on a leash at all times while on the bus
  • Dogs are NOT allowed on seats of the bus
  • Dogs must be kept in control by their owner and not block the aisle of the bus

Please Note: Go-To Cards, SuperSaver Cards, College Passes and MetroPasses are not accepted for Renaissance Festival Express service. Bikes are permitted to be transported on the front of the bus. Only collapsible wagons are allowed on buses for transport.
