The Metropolitan Council is proposing changes to fares and is seeking public feedback. These updates would affect the regional fixed-route fare system.
• Express (fixed) rides all-times: $3.00
• Express (fixed) 31-day pass: $96.00 per month
• $1.00 reduced express (fixed) fare (applies to seniors 65+, TAP customers, Medicare card holders, youth, and limited mobility)
• Youth pricing extended to age 18 – Currently, youth ages 6-12 are eligible for reduced fares. If these proposed changes are adopted, those ages 6-18 would pay $1 on all local/METRO lines and express (fixed) buses. This change would lower costs for youth who do not have access to a transit pass through their school.
If approved by council – changes to fixed route fares will apply to all regional transit providers.
Comments are able to be submitted through Tuesday, May 26. Your voice matters – submit your feedback below!
Note: the proposed changes will not impact Connect fare

MVTA operators participated in disability awareness training led by NAMI and the Minnesota Council on Disability. This opportunity was made possible through a grant from Dakota County Communities for All, a program focused on bringing people together to build more supportive, accessible, and inclusive communities.

MVTA joined partners and community members to celebrate the ribbon cutting for our Burnsville Bus Garage Modernization Project. This milestone has been a long time in the making, with many dedicated hands working together to create a space that better serves our communities.
MVTA proposed summer service changes earlier this year, with public feedback open through April 6. MVTA offered several ways for riders to share input, including in-person opportunities, on-bus ride-alongs, and virtual options.
The summer service changes will go into effect on June 1, 2026. View changes, here >
